Fleet River Pilgrimage

March 15th 2008, 1 - 4 pm

with Aidan Dun and Louise Coe

at Kenwood House

London's sacred river, the Fleet, has been underground and lost for too long! This is an opportunity to explore the Fleet, the old River of Wells , from its source within the high hills of Hampstead. Water possesses wisdom and knowledge and this is also an opportunity to find a deeper connection to water.

We begin by gathering in the grounds of Kenwood House, at the cloister, for a preamble about London 's sacred river, the Fleet, which was said to fall 'from a higher grace than any of its sister streams'. Setting out from the atmospheric Palladian Water Temple, we shall go to the Silver Birch Grove at the source of the Fleet. We shall then progress, via the invisible Dancing Circle , to the Red Fountain to taste holy waters; and finally we shall cross Kenwood (remnant of the ancient Forest of Middlesex ) to the tumulus of Boudicca, where the pilgrimage will conclude.

The Fleet River pilgrimage will be led by Aidan Dun and Louise Coe. Aidan will share his understanding of the sacred landscape of London . Louise will detail the many wells and healing spas that used to thrive along the river.

Cost: £20.00.
